Overview
Mumbai is India's commercial capital and the home of Bollywood, spread along a narrow peninsula between the Arabian Sea and the harbor. Prepaid taxis and app-based cabs from Uber and Ola wait at designated pickup zones; the drive to Bandra takes 20 to 45 minutes and to Colaba 60 to 90 minutes, depending heavily on traffic.
Best time to visit
November to February is the most comfortable time, with dry, sunny weather and cooler evenings. The southwest monsoon arrives in June and lasts until about September, bringing heavy rain that can flood streets and disrupt local trains, though the city is green and dramatic then. Ganesh Chaturthi, usually in late August or September, fills the city with processions and immersions at Girgaum Chowpatty and Juhu.
