Royal Jordanian overview
Royal Jordanian was founded in December 1963 as Alia, named after King Hussein's eldest daughter, and began flying later that month. It took the name Royal Jordanian Airlines in 1986 and was partly privatised in 2007. The same year it joined oneworld, becoming the first Arab airline in a global alliance.
The fleet of roughly 40 aircraft includes Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul flights, Airbus A320-family jets and Embraer regional jets. From its Amman hub it flies across the Middle East and Europe, to North America (including New York, Chicago, Detroit and Washington) and to India. Its premium cabin is branded Crown Class.
