Jetstar Airways was founded by Qantas in 2003 and began flying in May 2004. It is wholly owned by Qantas and forms the low-cost arm of the Qantas Group; the Jetstar brand is also used by affiliated airlines in Japan and elsewhere in Asia. Jetstar Airways operates a fleet of roughly 100 aircraft, mainly Airbus A320-family jets with Boeing 787-8s on longer international routes.
Headquartered in Melbourne, the airline has bases across Australia and New Zealand, including Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth, and a base in Bali. It serves destinations in Australia and New Zealand and internationally in Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and the Pacific Islands.

What happens when you cancel a Jetstar ticket depends on the fare rules attached to it, which you see before booking. Tickets bought for travel to or from the US generally allow a free cancellation within 24 hours of booking when the flight is at least seven days away; after that, flexible fares may be refundable and others may convert to credit or be non-refundable.
