Asiana Airlines overview
Asiana Airlines was founded in 1988 and became South Korea's second full-service airline. It joined Star Alliance in 2003. Korean Air completed its acquisition of a majority stake of about 64% on 12 December 2024, and Asiana now operates as a Korean Air subsidiary while the two airlines are integrated. Reports indicate Asiana will leave Star Alliance on 16 December 2026 and be absorbed into Korean Air, a SkyTeam member, the following day.
From its hub at Seoul Incheon, with Gimpo used for some domestic and regional flights, Asiana flies a fleet of roughly 65-70 aircraft, including Airbus A350s, across Asia and to North America (Los Angeles, New York JFK, San Francisco, Seattle, Honolulu) and Europe (London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome).
