Aegean Airlines was founded in 1995 and began scheduled operations in 1999. It joined Star Alliance in 2010 and owns Olympic Air, which it acquired in 2013. The company is independent and publicly listed rather than part of a larger airline group.
Aegean operates an Airbus A320-family fleet of around 70 aircraft, with Business and Economy cabins, and is adding long-range A321LR and A321XLR aircraft. Its network covers Greek domestic routes, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and it has announced its first flights to India, serving New Delhi and Mumbai. Its subsidiary Olympic Air operates many regional routes within Greece.
