Air Arabia was set up by Amiri decree in February 2003 and began flying in October 2003. It describes itself as the Middle East's first low-fare airline. Air Arabia PJSC is listed on the Dubai Financial Market. The group also runs affiliate airlines, including Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, Air Arabia Maroc, Air Arabia Egypt and Fly Jinnah in Pakistan.
The airline flies an all-Airbus A320-family fleet, including A320neos, A321neos and A321LRs, in a single economy cabin, and has a large order book. From Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah it flies to the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, North Africa and Europe. Its flights were cut back during the 2026 regional disruption and have been restored in stages since.
