Allegiant Air was founded in 1997 and is owned by Las Vegas-based Allegiant Travel Company. Its model is built on nonstop, often less-than-daily flights linking small and mid-sized US cities with leisure destinations in Florida, Las Vegas, Arizona and elsewhere. In May 2026 its parent completed the acquisition of Sun Country Airlines, which continues to fly under its own brand for now.
Allegiant's fleet of more than 120 aircraft is mainly Airbus A319 and A320 jets, and it has begun flying Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with more on order. It serves well over 100 cities from bases such as Las Vegas, Orlando-Sanford, Phoenix-Mesa, St. Pete-Clearwater and Fort Lauderdale.
