Eurowings overview
Eurowings was created in 1993 from the merger of two German regional carriers and became wholly owned by Lufthansa by 2011. From 2015 it was redeveloped as the Lufthansa Group's value carrier, absorbing the Germanwings brand; its long-haul flying was handed to the separate leisure airline Eurowings Discover (now Discover Airlines) in 2021.
The airline operates an Airbus A320-family fleet, and in 2025 the group announced an order for 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for delivery from 2027. Eurowings says its network covers roughly 150 destinations in about 40 countries, with major bases in Germany plus bases abroad such as Prague, Palma de Mallorca, Salzburg and Graz. It is not a member of an airline alliance itself, but its flights earn and burn Lufthansa Group Miles & More miles.
